The retiring trust officer will tell you they don’t like sales, but they are always at the top of the list for trust officers with the most referrals and next-generation retention business due to their customer service. As Personal Trust Officer, your role will entail the following:
• The Personal Trust Officer focuses on clients and is a true relationship manager.
• The current Personal Trust Officer is not focused on business development but does an excellent job of servicing clients. As a result, they are recognized for referrals and next-generation retention.
• Work with the commercial bank, retail, and mortgage referrals of new customers to AWM.
• The Personal Trust Officer will be part of a team that includes an Investment Officer and a Trust Wealth Advisor. Personal Trust Officers and Investment Officers focus on customer service with some sales. The Trust Wealth Advisor focuses on sales.
• Typically, the Personal Trust Officers have about 70 relationships
• During the first year, the Personal Trust Officer will learn company policies/procedures and systems and gradually inherit clients from the future retiree.

As Personal Trust Officer, you will have
• A minimum of five years of experience in personal trust administration experience
• Excellent relationship management skills generating referrals from an existing book.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Additional training preferred but not required, i.e., Masters Finance, JD, CTFA, CFP, etc.
